Today, Minnesota has over 700 students for each school counselor, one of the worst ratios in the nation. Improving that ratio to 250:1 would give many students the guidance and mentoring they need to get off to a good start in life. Go to college, learn a trade or entering the workforce, our young people need help to understand their options and choose a path. For many, their parents simply lack the knowledge and skills to provide good career mentoring. That's where school counselors come in, and Jerry Newton is working hard to get more of them into our schools to help our young people.
